Medical Transcription

Certificate of Completion

A career in medical transcription combines the disciplines of medicine and computer application within the health care industry. Medical Transcriptionists are specialists in medical language and healthcare documentation who interpret and transcribe dictation by physicians and other healthcare professionals, editing dictated material for grammar and clarity as necessary and appropriate.

Students need excellent English language skills, good hearing acuity and listening ability, good keyboard skills, and the ability to work seated for long periods of time. Students are required to attend a mandatory program orientation prior to enrollment.

The Medical Transcription Certificate Program is a flexible distance learning, Internet based program. Graduates of this 12 month certificate program are eligible to take the certified Medical Transcriptionist (C.M.T.) examination administered by the American Association of Medical Transcription.
