What We Do Success Stories

Cristina is the perfect example of “never giving up”. Cristina is born and raised in Mexico. She and her husband married in Mexico and soon after moved to El Paso. Cristina not knowing the English language decided to start from the bottom. She began taking ESL classes and soon got her GED. Her and husband opened an adult daycare center however due to COVID it closed. Cristina remained determined on chasing her dream of becoming a nurse. Unsure of how she would be paying for classes once accepted into the nursing program, she continued and completed all of her prerequisites. She came across Project ARRIBA and decided to apply for assistance. Shortly after Cristina was accepted into the Licensed Vocational program. The nursing program is not easy and being that English is not her first language makes it just a little more challenging for her. I encouraged and reassured her that all her hard work would to pay off very soon and it did. She is a proud graduate of the Fall 2024 LVN class.
Soon after graduating, she was now faced with the NCLEX exam. She remained focus and positive. She became a Licensed Vocational Nurse the following month. Soon after she was hired at Centro San Vicente and will be making about $45,000/a year. Her life and the life of her family will forever be changed all for the good.
